Saturday 19th February:

* NSW Treasurer Matt Kean announced an $8 million fund for pilot community electrification projects.

* A pilot project is a community-based demonstration of renewably produced electrification in a town or community,

* Could be your house, apartment block, estate, street, community, shopping centre, whole suburb!

* Funding will be allocated by application - $8 million won't go far so if you're interested get in quick

* Funds can be spent on putting solar panels on roofs or in installing community solar farms, purchase and installation of storage batteries, upgrading to electric appliances [e.g., induction stoves; solar and electric hot water systems; heat pumps], EV charging stations, buying EVs.

* As Saul Griffith says, these pilot projects are like 'templates that can then be copied across Australia'. We need pilot projects like these to demonstrate success that will then 'build the technological, behavioural and financial developments necessary for solar renewable energy to be scaled across the country'.
